ER/MD-001, Dealul Bălănești, 429m
August 16, 2025: SOTA activation at the Balanesti Hill, the
highest point in Moldova, 429m. My first SOTA Activation in Moldova!
Locator: KN47af. Power: 4W - transceiver QDX. Antenna: several full size dipoles, connected to one coax - one for the 40m band, another one for the 30m band, etc., attached to a 7m long carbon fishing rod.
Propagation was very weak, but the activation was successful.
I also managed to make 2 contacts on VHF with hams from Iasi, Romania, using a HT with a 5 element log-periodic antenna.
Last 5 QSOs were made using a Diamond BB-7V, installed by my ham friend ER1PL. We came together to activate this summit.
