ER/MD-009, Dealul Băxanilor, 349m
October 14, 2025: SOTA activation of the hill "Dealul
Dealul Băxanilor" (ER/MD-009), 349m, locator: KN48ac.
This hill is located to the west of Băxani village in the "Pădurea
Băxani" Forest Reserve (POTA MD-0166), so I did a double activation from this
location. The access to the summit is super nice and easy - a paved road
up to the entrance, where I left the car and walked to the activation
spot. Thing is, the summit is on the territory of a still functional
Government Anti-Hail Unit, so I was accompanied by the guard who was
curious to see what I was doing there. I worked QRP with a QDX digital transceiver and a small
amplifier (10W). The antenna used: classic telescopic vertical with a 5m whip and 10
radial wires on the ground. After 15 minutes it started raining, so I
had to pack everything up and then did the remaining QSOs for the POTA
activation from my car, from a different location 200m away.
