August 22, 2026: Mario, DL4MFM, who is visiting Moldova, accompanied me on this activation. We decided to go to the North-West part of the country, where many hills are, and to do SOTA and GMA activations.
The route from Chisinau went to Balti city, on the M5 highway, and at Slobozia-Chiscareni we went through Iezarenii Vechi and Ciuciuleni to the village of Brejeni, where we have the Oușoru summit. Magnificent views with blue sky and lots of sun.
Antenna: classic vertical 5m long with 10 radials, for the 20m band.
Transceiver: Yaesu FT-818ND with a small amplifier (about 15W power).
In total, we drove about 400km in 2 days and walked about 22 thousand steps. We installed 3 different antennas, on 6 hills. Despite the 35-degree heat, during this weekend we managed to activate all 6 summits (4 SOTA + 2 GMA), and none of them was activated before. I've never been to any of them, so we explored everything on the go. I made a total of 68 QSOs, most of them in SSB, and most of Mario's QSOs were in CW.
Other activated SOTA summits were: ER/MD-025, ER/MD-010, and ER/MD-015.
